I'm so happy to introduce my 'Shawl of Two Halves'.
I've had this design in my mind for ages and it turned out so well. I love the contrast of the Orange and Black yarns which are perfect Halloween-themed colours. I used WeCrochet (KnitPicks) yarn, which I haven't used before, and I have to say that it's really gorgeous to work with. I used their Stroll Tonal fingering weight and it's super soft and cosy. I can see it ending up in my stash in the very near future (but only once I've cleared the decks a little!!).
But you could shop your stash and find two 100g contrasting skeins or balls of 4ply and use them instead - it's a perfect stash buster for a couple of odd balls of yarn and uses a simple and repetitive stitch pattern (V-stitch), which is nice and relaxing.
The frilly edge finishes it off nicely, and adds and pretty border.
My mum-in-law called round one day without knowing that she would end up in an impromptu photoshoot, but I'm sure you'll agree that the shawl suits her very well. I think she has claimed it as her Christmas present too.....

How to get the pattern
The patterns can be downloaded on Ravelry and you can find it here and the cost is £3.50, plus any VAT that you need to pay for the country in which you live (this will automatically be added for you by Ravelry):

I'd love to see your finished versions, so feel free to add them as a Project to Ravelry. It's a great way to show off your skills and also to inspire others with your colour choices.
Happy crocheting and I hope you find some gorgeous colours in your stash to inspire you and make you feel like grabbing your hook and getting started.
